VK Hosts a Lot, and Exports Almost Nothing

VK is the dominant social platform across Russian-speaking regions and functions as a social network, a video host, and a music service at once. Communities on VK often use it as their primary publishing platform, which means a substantial amount of original video — lectures, community broadcasts, independent film, music — lives there and nowhere else. VK provides no download control for video, so this tool resolves a public VK video URL to its highest published MP4 rendition.

Expect H.264 video with AAC audio. VK stores multiple renditions, commonly 240p through 1080p, and the tool asks for the largest that is publicly served.

• vk.com/video-12345_67890 — the standard form, where the first number is the owner ID (negative for communities) and the second is the video ID.

Access Restrictions You Will Hit

VK's privacy model is granular and much of the platform is closed. Videos limited to friends, to community members, or to logged-in users only will not resolve, because the tool holds no session. Age-restricted material sits behind the same gate. VK also applies regional restrictions to some licensed content, and access to VK itself is blocked or degraded in several countries, which shows up here as a timeout rather than a clear error. Retrying once is worthwhile; repeated timeouts usually mean the content is not publicly reachable from the server's location.

Music Is Off the Table

VK's audio section is a licensed music service. Those tracks are commercially licensed, frequently DRM-managed, and downloading them is piracy in exactly the way downloading from any streaming service is. This tool handles VK's video surface only and does not touch the music catalogue.
